Today we want to show you what we have done to contribute to the cause of the virus and share the Panafargo interview that La W radio station did with us.

The situation that the entire world is going through is very frightening in many ways. It affects us emotionally, economically, and of course, physically.

After several days of thinking about it and an immense financial sacrifice and effort, we made the decision to close the store on March 16 and send all our employees home, without giving them vacations or unpaid leave.

I WANT TO KNOW MORE

We want to share the notes we took to address this issue with everyone at Panafargo.

It was a millionaire and very difficult decision, but we did it not only for our employees or their families, we did it for all of Colombia. Is it difficult for merchants? Yes, of course, it is; it's jumping into the void without a parachute, hoping that the support of all Colombia and the good will of the people will catch us in the fall.

We hoped that, with this act of bravery, a domino effect would be generated, inspiring all merchants to follow in our footsteps. We didn't achieve it, as the government already made the decision for everyone, but we did manage to attract the attention of the media who told our story.

Businesses, restaurants, bars, cinemas, etc., can close. But the measure will not work if we don't commit to respecting it. Getting out of this with the least possible impact is not in the hands of the government, nor the police, nor the hospitals; it is in each one of us.

For the first time, after asking for it so much, we have the power to change the country's destiny, to save hundreds of lives and to allocate resources towards the most important thing: LIFE.

We complain because we don't have time to spend with family, to read a book, to watch a sunset, we complain because we can't exercise, because we can't have a day to relax, we complain about crowds, traffic, the daily rush. And now, what we wanted so much, we have.

Life passes us by in the blink of an eye, without realizing the small details, the important things in life. Let's look around us and realize that we have everything, everything essential to be happy, the rest is extra.

Let's give ourselves the opportunity to rediscover ourselves, to evolve. Let's see this as an opportunity to question ourselves as a society, about the impact that humans have generated on life on earth.
