What is a painting tripod used for?

How does an easel work?

It consists of three vertical posts joined at one end. A rotating mechanism allows the central post to move away from the other two, forming a tripod. The two non-rotating posts have a horizontal piece on which the canvas is placed. Measure the length of the legs so they are at a comfortable working height. For a good distribution of the easel legs, an angle of 65 degrees from the horizontal, or 25 degrees from the edge of the top board, will work very well; the sum of these angles should be 90 degrees.
