Due to its texture, it is also called "passepartout," and it is not only used for models but also to separate photos or prints from glass (framing) and even for painting on it with watercolors.Strawboard is a material made of several layers of superimposed paper, based on virgin fiber or recycled paper. Cardboard is thicker, harder, and more resistant than paper. Some types of cardboard are used to manufacture packaging and containers, basically boxes of various types. The top layer can receive a different finish called "stucco" which gives it greater visual appeal.
