The Castell 900 pencil is the genuine classic drawing pencil. It was launched by Count Alexander von Faber-Castell in 195. Faber Castell pencils are divided into "H" and "B." "H" pencils are harder and produce a lighter stroke, while "B" pencils are soft and produce a darker stroke. "F" and "HB" pencils are in the middle of the pencil scale. The HB – Faber Castell pencil has a lead that is a mix of soft and hard; we could say it is 0 on the scale, tending towards soft. It is the most used for taking notes as it allows for consistent and clear writing without leaving marks on the paper. A pencil with a lead made with more clay mixed with graphite is a more resistant pencil. They are differentiated, on the one hand, by the letters H and B, and on the other hand, by a number from 1 to 4, with 4 being the hardest.
