Faber-Castell pencils are divided into "H" and "B." "H" pencils are harder pencils with a light stroke, and "B" pencils are soft pencils with a darker stroke. F and HB pencils are the midpoint of pencils. The HB - Faber-Castell pencil has a lead that is a mix between soft and hard; we can say it's the 0 on the scale, leaning towards soft. It's the most used for note-taking as it allows consistent and clear writing without leaving marks on the paper. A pencil with a lead made with more clay mixed with graphite is a more resistant pencil. They are differentiated, on the one hand, by the letters H and B, and on the other hand, by a number from 1 to 4, with 4 being the hardest.
